OLD HOME PLACE
I CAN SEE THE OLD HOME PLACE
A ROCKING CHAIR ON THE PORCH
A LITTLE GRAY HAIRED LADY SITS ALONE
SHE SINGS ROCK OF AGES AS SHE ROCKS ALONG
WITH THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL
SHE SINGS SINGS HER SONG
WITH EYES THAT GLISTEN SHE LOOKS MY WAY
SMILLING SO SWEETLY I HEARD HER SAY
IT'S JUST THE OLD HOMEPLACE
WELCOME MY DEAR, I'VE JUST ABOUT FINISHED
SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE
THEN SHE CALLED ME TO HER SIDE
TELLING OF HER CHILDREN
WITH EYES SO FULL OF PRIDE
AND OF HER DEAR ONE BEFORE HE HAD DIED
SHE SANG ROCK OF AGES AND GAVE SUCH A SMILE
THE ANGELS MUST HAVE HEARD HER
FOR THEY CAME IN JUST A WHILE
TEARS WERE FLOWING FROM MY EYES
THE PAIN SHE BORE SHE COULD NOT HIDE
NOW SHE SLEEPS A PEACEFUL SLEEP
AND WILL REST, UNTILL AGAIN WE MEET
A ROCKING CHAIR ON THE PORCH
A LITTLE GRAY HAIRED LADY SITS ALONE
SHE SINGS ROCK OF AGES AS SHE ROCKS ALONG
WITH THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL
SHE SINGS SINGS HER SONG
WITH EYES THAT GLISTEN SHE LOOKS MY WAY
SMILLING SO SWEETLY I HEARD HER SAY
IT'S JUST THE OLD HOMEPLACE
WELCOME MY DEAR, I'VE JUST ABOUT FINISHED
SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE
THEN SHE CALLED ME TO HER SIDE
TELLING OF HER CHILDREN
WITH EYES SO FULL OF PRIDE
AND OF HER DEAR ONE BEFORE HE HAD DIED
SHE SANG ROCK OF AGES AND GAVE SUCH A SMILE
THE ANGELS MUST HAVE HEARD HER
FOR THEY CAME IN JUST A WHILE
TEARS WERE FLOWING FROM MY EYES
THE PAIN SHE BORE SHE COULD NOT HIDE
NOW SHE SLEEPS A PEACEFUL SLEEP
AND WILL REST, UNTILL AGAIN WE MEET
