On My Terms

Being pushed to accept it
Twists me into knots
Please don’t lay it at my feet
I know you must go
Wanting you to leave in Peace
Please don’t make me
Do this on your terms
This is the hardest thing
For me to do
Say Goodbye
To my best friend
My soul mate
My true Love
I know you must go
Where you will be free at last
I am not being selfish
Our time together was cut too short
And I have just one last Request
That The God’s let me say “Goodbye”
On my terms
Allow me to
Let you go
At my own Pace
With Grace
I want to let you go
With Peace
I want to take some of that Grace
Some of that Peace
Hold on to it tight
Until I am strong enough
To go on living without you
For You will forever live in my Heart
Where I will carry you around
No one can touch your special place
In my heart
I am not going to say goodbye
But See you someday

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
