One Of Those Days
Today was one of those days you just want to endOne of those days when no one's your friend
Tired and sore with so much to get done
Longing for a friend but not having one
But still I worked, straight through the day
Hoping to finish in time to go play
But knowing with dreadful certainty
There's no one there to play with me
Today was one of those days when you can't help but lose
Good friends all around but you have to choose
Everyone gets hurt and no one has fun
Why can't they get along with everyone?
Nobody wins when the best of friends fight
Staying up arguing through a long dark night
I want everyone of my friends to get along
No fights or arguments, is that so wrong?
Today was one of those days when everything is right
Everywhere I go, no shadows, just light.
Why can't all days be like the one I just had?
Why do there have to be days that are bad?
Memories of yesterday still cloud my mind
Where's that silver lining I'm trying to find?
Today may have been great, but that's just one day
All the joy I felt today might soon go away.
Today was one of those days when you figure it out
Figure out what this life is really all about
I'm not strong enough to make each day good
I don't know why I ever thought I could
I need someone to lean on, and that's who I've found
My protector, my lover, who's always around
He can do far more for me than I'd ever known
You don't envy the birds until first you've flown.
Today was one of those days that fades with time
Not even really worth putting down in a rhyme
Except for one thing, that carries me through
One thing I try to understand, and sometimes I do
Strong arms were around me, all through the day
All I had to do was ask and then He would say
“I love you, my darling, my sweetest delight,
Stay with me forever, I've shown you the light.”
