Although I've loved poetry since the first grade, I actually found my gift in writing poetry as an adult during some growing pains in my life. Writing poetry and journaling releases my soul to be free. For me, poetry is the canvas on which words are painted as to what color is to a painter. Poetry explains what might be otherwise unutterable. It is the highest degree of language. It awakens the imaginative parts of our brains--and our souls--as we make the intuitive leap to understand what the poem means to us.
