Premonition
I saw it, right before my eyes.
It was out of my mouth.
Those words of lies.
If I hit rewind, the words would be back.
The suppressed tears began to surface.
Your eyes glossing, and down they came.
I’ve never seen such anguish in those eyes.
We stood so close, yet so far apart.
Our eyes met, and then you looked away.
The more I tried to speak, the more the words would not release.
Throat clogged with the lies that wanted to surface.
Mouth dry from the poison that spewed with the saliva that the words formed from.
I wanted to take it all back.
Every last word, but I couldn’t
The worst lie of all is me.
