Prisoner of the Ocean

Prisoner of the Ocean

Down to the depths I plunge,
A prisoner held in the might of the ocean.
And there I stay, until the wind calls my name, and I surface again with a mighty and welcome breath.
I am driven to the shore by my brothers and sisters,
And my friend, the wind, helps me to gain the speed I need as I go.
Only to crash upon the beach and wash across the sweet flesh of little feet.
But this enjoyment is brief, for I must away,
Back to my prison of the depths beneath the ocean's crown.
And there I wait patiently,
Dreaming of the pleasures I received from my journey.
Awaiting the day, that the wind calls my name,
To do it all again.

The images of waves crashing against the shore is what this poem gives me .

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
