reparations for failure

REPARATIONS FOR FAILURE

Betrayed by my own insecurities,
I relinquished opportunities of great victories.
The chellenges I could have conquered,
I left lying dormant like a pitiful bastard.
My peers implied that I was to blame,
suggesting I should hang my head in shame.
Who are they to judge the contents of my character?
Sure, I've failed before, but unforeseen is what I do after.
My mistakes have taught me rise above the tsunamis that are my obstacles.
I've been scrutinized by the average bums to men with non prescripted monocles.
Fortunately for me, my morals were not conceived by lesser beings.
Most of human nature accepts the opinion that seeing is believing.
Like an artist, I saw past what was in front of me
to a great distance beyond what might have been to what could be.
Someone once said that "A low self-esteem is just good common sense."
I believe it's the voice of fear that keeps us from achieving what is too intense.
The truth is a large number of us fail before we thrive,
but only a few are strong enough to survive.
While success is the object of our infatuation,
failure is the basis of our education

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
