    Restrictions of the Mind

    Left behind to sweep through
the ashes of a charred life.
Not restricted by a wicked stepmother or ugly stepsisters,
but by demons of the mind.

    Never feeling good enough
    whatever the circumstance may be.
    Dressed in rags of despair.
Outfitted in cobwebs of the mind.

    Like a cobblestone street
    under carriage and horses feet,
    trampled, run over.
Trodden by ghosts of the mind.

    Never daring to dream
until an Angel with the magic
of a skilled psychologist and therapist
helped release the debris of a cluttered mind.

Now dressed to attend the ball!

Cinderella, meets Molly Mcgrue, sees a doctor nd gets a free pass. Don't lose your show, or maybe i should say "break a leg". Well written, honest and direct. great parallel with Cinderella, and the story book ideology. Good write. Prefer rhyme, but good messge. Write on.....

I really, really like this! When we chatted earlier you said you weren't that good a poetry, but I'm going to have to disagree! I love the layers in this and how you used a fairy tale as an allegory to how you feel. I also liked how each stanza was four lines and ended with "mind." Please keep writing!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
