    Slow Lazy River

    Listen to the gentle lapping
    of a slow, lazy river.

    Feel the gentle waves becoming
    a beating pulse counting time.

    Heed the churning torrent beating
    with a rumbling, raging voice.

    Beware crashing rapids thundering
a storm of reverberation through the air.

    Enjoy shrieks of laughter echoing
    off steep canyon walls.

Do not be deceived by the gentle lapping
    of a slow, lazy river.

It can connect with you and never let you go. The mississippi especially in my experience. Love the visual flowering and th width of your vocabulary. Your word choices tintillate the mind. Good write.....

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
