Reverie

Sing to the red clouds:
Brilliant heart to a summer sunset
Skipping along the boards
Of a long-forgotten path.
A warm breeze sneaks inside my head
Turning my wayward heart
Towards rescue.
Like a lost helium balloon,
I rise higher and higher
Till I am no longer visible
To beings earthbound;
Closer than ever to the silver moon
Of a stark night.
Stars erased by the man-made lights
Of the pier'
Commanding attention beyond
The short-lived thrills of the rides.
I am enfolded in the damp breeze
And wonder what I could have been
Elsewhere, elsetime
Stripped of the longing
For us.

Another wonderful piece. You seem to write effortlessly. I love how you words just seem to flow. Terrific cadence and tempo. A very good poem. Thanks again... Kevin.

Quite a wonderful trip you just took me on with the words, your imagery is well done. Thanks for posting for us here to read and enjoy. I will always be happy to read. Great job on this one.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
