Shadows

The Light didn’t extend to the corners of the room

As the day goes on, the shadows crawl closer and closer to where I stand

And that’s where the evil and deranged lurked, in the darkness

I felt their eyes on me. But I’ve learned to keep my poker face. But not this time

The one thought that washed across my face. Fear.

I try to remember what it used to be like

But all I see is…

A ghost of a memory of you, a fragment

Your face appears in my mind and I feel a smile wash across mine.

Pigment of my imagination, or is it really you?

A mirage to save me from my misery for at least a little while.
