    Silence

I walk the path I chose in silence.
Because I'm tired of war and violence.
    The battles inside are endless,
and others would call it senselees.
But when it's over all of this changing,
Will keep this old heart from aging.
And now that my words seem outdone,
Its my mind that this silence has out run.
The questions that never have answers,
rattle in my head like dancers.
With no one to turn to for guidence,
I sit consumed by this silence.

I love the feel of this poem, sitting in silence as I read it, like we are engulfed in two different silent universes. Sometimes the phrases reach a bit for the sake of rhyme, but I loved the phrase "The wuestions that never have answers rattle in my head like dancers," very haunting, so very descriptive. The ending of the poem is perfect and truly seems to seal in the silence that you feel and the loneliness, even a bit of hopelessness. Really enjoyed reading this!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
