    Tears

    Here come the tears

running on well-worn paths upon my face

    pooling under my chin

and free falling on puddles on my shirt

All the sadness of the past few months

    released in great big howls

like a beast cursing at the moon

    Sadness overcomes me

    and the tears won’t stop

    cleansing my soul

    and tearing my heart

How much more can I bear…

as I drive the landscape blurs

and I fight to see the road

I call on your angels to keep me safe

and keep my heart from breaking

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
