    that girl

     you know that girl you walk past everyday?
    the one that always seems happy?
    the one that always waves to you?

    would you believe me if i told you that girl has depression?
    that girl was sexually abused?
    that girl cuts herself?

    think about it,
    she has trouble trusting men
    and she always covers her arms

    now do you believe me?

    would you believe her if she told you she cries herself to sleep?
    every single night?
    while she cuts herself?

    would you believe her if she told you she was molested?
    by her step-father?
    right before she started high school?

    she doesn't seem so happy now, does she?
    she's the type of girl that likes to make someones day,
    even when hers is falling apart

    that girl is me
