That Sweet Fire

That Sweet Fire

My heart drops
as I hear your words of hate
My eyes burn
as the tears threaten to fall
With a kept in scream I flee
Flee to a place where the tears are gone
and I all Ifeel is fire
Fire that courses through my veins
as the music pounds in my ears
I welcome the harsh sounds
that block out the rest of the world
and for a moment I feel like nothing could touch me
The fire keeps burning
growing stronger the longer I listen
My body is busing
with a sudden need
to dance
run
scream
anything
and with a sickly sweet smile I do just that
I dance
I run
I sceam
And when all is said and done
the fire is still there burning
as my breath comes in ragged gasps
And my eyes show my thoughts
I will not fall
I will be stronger
Your words will mean nothing
I will succeed
I will prove you wrong.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
