The Bye-and-Bye Epitaph of an American
I tried to be stoic,
but I was too much of a romantic.
I tried to be a romantic,
but they cut off my head.
I tried to make it as a circus freak,
but they said, "You can't juggle with one head."
Here, they say, "There's nothing you can't be,"
yet I failed at all three.
