The Girl I Used to Be

THE GIRL I USED TO BE

    It was a summer night. . .
There in the moonlit grass we laid.
    Laughing and loving. . .
    We discovered each other
There in the field out behind his house
    Underneath that old willow tree.

The boy I used to love.
The girl I used to be.

And the radio played softly. . .
“I go crazy” sang the singer to the wind & me
    I listened. . .
To the words that he was singing
And I lay beneath my lover, and I cried.
    He made me crazy.

The boy I used to love.
The girl I used to be.
