When you look at me, what is it you see?

Could you see the darkness, that lies inside of me?

Or do you see the light, hiding just beneath the dark mask?

All I know is that your judgments are too quickly made, your readings done too fast,

Everyone assumes, that I'm a pompous jerk,

That I am a moron, and have a mind filled with irk,

You all suddenly hate me, even before you know my name,

The sad part is that behind the rage, I'm really very tame,

I make a show of hatred, a show that you all see as real,

But if you got close enough, you'd see it is a shield,

A shield against your enmity, to keep myself from going mad,

But no matter how I deal with it, it will always make me sad,

Even when I try to help, or try to be nice,

You all treat me with enmity, your hearts seem made of ice,

Yet no matter what you do, no matter what you say,

I'll still keep on this mask, until a better day,

Some day it may happen, where people finally see,

That very very rarely, is anything as it seems,

When you look at me, what is it you see?

Do you see the darkness on the surface, or the truth that lies beneath?
