    Will he walk away?

    Will he walk away?
    The softness of trust,
the space of time after a word
is spoken and a reaction is seen.

It is breathless, motionless, and silent.
it is an arch, tension is high,
    feelings are exposed, Shh!
    Will he walk away?

He is still here, arms around you.
    Another word and again the
    tension sings; the tears fall.
"I'm still here" he says. You breathe.

    A light through the crack
maybe, just maybe, he is for real.
You showed him black, he showed you light.
Trust that he won't walk away.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
