A Flight From Fear
I sailed upon a distant cloud in a dream which captured meI woke so far from where I slept and all that I could see
A woman still and proud stood perched upon great height
Though this were a dream I watched from there her flight
She stepped with great abandon, I could hear her call
A wind to gather 'neath her wings and promise not to fall
I stared upon her silent flight, all that I could hear
The sound of crashing far below on rocks that caught her fear
She soared the unmapped skies as though she had a chart
a flight which needed less from eyes but everything from heart
Too soon I would not see her, my dream would disappear
as did the very high place that crumbled with her fear
Hers was not victory where glorious trumpets sang
no accolades, no grand applause, no adoration rang
the flight itself was prize enough, her fear had met an end
She herself was free at last, she did not not fall with them.
