    A Lover's Prayer

    Are you waiting too?
That's all I care to know.
Are you standing on the edge of hope and
Love seeking desperately for me and my soul?
Does your hand ache because It's not complete
    Without mine interlaced and held?
My heart aches... it seeks. Oh, how
I seek! until my eyes are dry and hurting.
I hope you are hurting too.
That would just mean you are waiting
For the one God has ordained for you-
Rather then settling for what is not.

Hold on, Beloved. Sit and listen.
If you are silent long enough to
    Hear the stars singing
As they shine about the heavens, then
    Wait a little longer.
You will hear a distant voice
    Reverberating off heaven's ceiling.
    Sometimes It's a weak and timid song;
Yet, if you catch it at just the right moment-
    It's a battle cry...
    ... It's me.
    Singing to you, Love.
Hoping beyond natural sense that you
Are listening for that song. A song
That expands in your own chest.
    Oh, Love, are you waiting?
Please do. I'm desperately aching as
    I wait for you.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
