    Violin

    The soundtrack of my life
    Is a forlorn hymn
    Played skillfully on a violin.
The moon rises across the night sky
In time to the rhythm of those strings
    Plucked to a Hebrew rhyme.

I love men who play the violin-
    Especially when they're angels,
Standing in the middle of a park.
    Unaware people pass by without
Thought of where or why this song
    Is floating passed their ears.

    But, I stop and listen,
    Wait and listen,
    And listen.

    Until that song sinks in,
Passed the thickness of my skin-
    Through the muscles and arteries-
Until those joyful notes dance around my
Organs- and they are one with my breath.
That is when a song makes sense,
    When my life makes sense...
When this song called life makes sense.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
