Poem Commentary

There's so many things people hear bout in this world. Not many taking the time to see it through those that are hurtings veiw. And as I sit down one day thinking bout all the different people deal with when having a loved one in the military it got me thinking... Then next thing I knew I had sereval poems wrote... Here is one of them....

A Memory That Won't Die

Sitting on the porch, watching your
parents come up the sidewalk. As
they got closer I see a letter in your
dad's hand. There is tears pouring
down their faces. I couldn't help
but wonder if it was you. Your
dad hands me the letter. I know
now that your no longer here. I
didn't want to believe it, I just
talked to your yesterday and you
were fine, happy to know that
our unborn child was going to be
a girl. As the tears fall down my
face, I knew that you were on
your way home. Soon, I would
see you, laying there, waiting
for the day you go in the ground.
As the day gets closer, I keep
finding myself standing outside
Arlington Cemetery. Tomorrow
I will walk across the cemetery.
Watch as you get laid to rest. As
I walk away, tears falling down
my face. I slowly start rubbing
our unborn daughter, and say
'You may never have a chance
to meet your daddy. But just
remember that he died protecting
America. He died being a hero.
Most importantly, he is a memory
that will leave on forever.'
