    Across the Lake

Ice and snow obliged to stay
Long winter months and shortened days
Cold winds bite the naked trees
    Clattering language of ancient branches
Keep their secrets safe from me
    Watching from across the lake
I see the changes taking place
Sun crawling higher in the sky
    Spring returns day by day
I smile and watch the melting snow
And when March winds begin to blow
Water begins to dance with delight
    Breaking down winter's icy door
Pushing its way to the sleeping shore
Awake, awake you blades of grass
I see a patch of green from across the lake.

I feel the intensity of waiting for spring and the joyful heart when the signs appear that spring is near. I like your descriptions throughout the poem. The idea of the sound the branches make in the wind is as some unknown language is brilliant.

A well written, beautiful work you've created. Great write.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
