    Alone

A distant voice plays in her ear,
She hears it,  yet; it fades.
Laughter and happiness projected across the sky,
    Memories of love being portrayed.
    Grasping for each lost moment,
    The desperation outplays the mind.
    Realizing how she has lost,
Lost withing the shadows of love.
Giving the final test, the reality is found,
Turning away only to get lost again.
Traveling alone on a blackened path, scared and confused,
Asking for help but nobody can hear the pleas.
Searching for the fate that was meant to be,
Standing again from the long fall,
    Brushing off the dusty wounds.
    Starting a new fulfilled life,
    She looks in the mirror,
Only to see she loves the one in her own reflection.
Ignoring the reality of what she saw,
She wipes the mirror clean of the image.
    Only after days of loneliness,
    She realizes what has become.
The love she has, has not been perished but deepened.
    Without his love,
    She will never be whole.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
