Shadows of Love
As she stands in his shadow looking on,
The hurting feelings are beating strong.
Does he know the depth of her ache,
Or has his blindness burnt down the stake?
With every glance he throws her way,
The breath of the victim is taken away.
As he smiles the hopeless grin,
She longs for the day his heart she will win.
Is this all an unbearable dream,
Or the face of reality forcing its stream?
Holding on to what has been torn,
With each petal comes its thorn.
Days drift on and fall to night,
His glimmering stare is still in sight.
Tomorrow she knows what will be,
Another day of lost memories.
Crying out for help, she turns away,
That one movement carries her day.
Words hitting as hard as fists,
The strikes to herself are what she must resist.
Hope molds to need for that magical touch,
That only he can fulfill as much.
She steps out of the darkness and into the light,
The feelings for him are not as tight.
As she looks back into her shadow below,
There he stands with a familiar glow.
Tracing back to what was before,
Realizing now that she was the key to the shadow's door.
The hurting feelings are beating strong.
Does he know the depth of her ache,
Or has his blindness burnt down the stake?
With every glance he throws her way,
The breath of the victim is taken away.
As he smiles the hopeless grin,
She longs for the day his heart she will win.
Is this all an unbearable dream,
Or the face of reality forcing its stream?
Holding on to what has been torn,
With each petal comes its thorn.
Days drift on and fall to night,
His glimmering stare is still in sight.
Tomorrow she knows what will be,
Another day of lost memories.
Crying out for help, she turns away,
That one movement carries her day.
