    BENNY WALKS ALONE

I see you through the window

    Walking to and fro

You appear to be wandering aimlessly

But your destination you do know

    I wonder what you’re thinking

    When you stop and stare

Do you think how short your walk will be?

Or do you silently whisper a prayer

You turn and head for home

    To your warm comfortable bed

    Your walk is nearly over

Soon you will rest your weary head

One day I too will go for a walk

As we all will do one day

I hope I am as brave as you

    Come that faithful day

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
