    Bleeding Heart

You Showed me that there is a thing called love,
But what you gave me was nothing at all.

    You stabbed it,
    And left it,
    My bleeding heart.

    I gave you my love
What you gave me were lies.

    You said you loved me
    But I guess I couldn't see
You were lieing straight through your teeth.

Now I'm sitting here trying to mend
    My bleeding heart.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
