BROKEN
***Broken***
The glass he drank from lay on the floor
Broken
The hand that clinched it tight bleeds as the skin is now
Broken
The relationship and the bond
that was once thought to be Heaven sent is now
Broken
Hearts that once beat as one are now
Broken
To families joined in law are now
Broken
Vows that were confessed have been
Broken
Smiles that masked the pain are now
Broken
Silence that imprisoned many truths has been
Broken
Words in conversation between old friends living as strangers are now
Broken
The chains and the padlock that secured
The blindfold that shielded them
when they refused to deal with the real have been
Broken
Glasses fixed in frames that reflected memories of days passed
are now
Broken
The Foundation that held the house
That held the people
That held the minds
That held the dreams
That held the hearts
That held the love
Is now
BROKEN
If it is true that
"Past Is Prelude"
Then they will end as they began as friends
