JUST A FRIEND
In front of me a path to the unknown
Behind me a trail of pain
A new place a new face and now I’ve hurt you again
You whom I’ve loved in some way because you let me
Feeling that I am someone significant, you’ll never forget me
Remembering intimate moments, the good-times filled with endless laughter
Comparing me to all those who come after
It’s never a game I don’t play when comes to matters of the heart
But that pain you feel or have felt I’m sure I played my part
I could’ve stopped at hello, I could’ve kept you as a friend
Minus the benefits and unwanted heart ache in the end
Call the pain unintentional but tell me was it really
Silly of me to think that I....
Yes it’s just silly
Why borrow time that you can never get back
As lovers looking for love why do we settle for that
Love with expiration be it a day or a year
Unaware of the final date we live in love yet live in fear
Searching desperately for a taste of what real love feels like
Knowing it’s wrong but not caring because our hearts say it feels right
Quick to point fingers when good things come to an end
But in the process of losing lovers we're also losing friends
Instead of tearing worlds apart lets focus on efforts to help mend
Instead of looking for love maybe all I need is a friend
