Celebration For Breathing

    Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem years ago when I did not have a job and was just hanging out for a while. I used to go see this girl and sit and talk and spend the day with her sometimes, and now I have known her over 35 years for we already knew each other for years then. She is still one of my oldest and best friends.

    Celebration For Breathing

    Celebration For Breathing

    A celebration for breathing
    just lazin' in the sun
    words with her
    fade to long quiet moments
    doing nothing is such fun...

    Watching the sun go down
and all I've done all day
is chase things down hot wavy city streets
    cruising town on
    a cool July evening
looking for a dream to ride...

    Bright shiny lights
in the dark black lighted night
    and all I do
is watch the tube play its thing
    or go see a friend
    to get entertained

    it's been a long time
    since I spent a day
    doing much of anything....

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
