    Confinement

The displeasure of watching your life as it passes you by

The pain of trying to live with no regrets

    Looking for a way out.

The view is from the cell bar windows

There is no real freedom in this world

The human shell is the cage that confines the soul

A soul yearning to be free

In the meantime, we stay confined within the walls of the human body

This poem has the potential for greatness, but the author doesn't clearly explain why he feels like the body is a cage to the soul. Why does the speaker feel so trapped by the body? Is he/she ill or incapacitated or otherwise physically challenged? what is it that brings such darkness to the speaker's soul? These questions are not answered in the poem.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
