Non-Existence

Non-Existence

The Demons drag me down from the tip of my mountain

They bring me back to reality

They do not speak, I understand them from their menacing looks

It was too good to be true

To good to know that happiness doesn’t exist

It is only an illusion we portray to give us hope

Wishing some day this hope would come to materialize

This materialization of hope could some day be real

It is only the lie we live

It is only the lie we see

This poem has all the components of greatness. I am mesmerized by the expression. I want to engage the speaker, find out what experiences have made him/her so bitter and despairing. Truly amazing!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
