    Crossroads

I thought that life would somehow get
easier as time went on but this isn’t so.
I wake up in the morning and tell myself
that today will be better then yesterday.

I look at myself in the mirror and see
an image of someone that looks like me
but it’s only a shell of who I am and
not who I really want to be.

I thought I was heading in the right
    direction but things look different.
Somewhere along the way I changed
    paths without realizing it.

Once again I’m lost and unsure,
    not knowing what to do.
I stand here in the crossroads
    wondering which way to go.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
