Single parenting

Being a single parent is no easy task.
You do the best you can and still it's never enough.
How much can you do for your children
before they learn to appreciate what they have?
The sacrafices i've made have been many.
Maybe i've done too much, been there too often,
maybe I should have pushed them a little harder.
When I try to explain what i've given up
so that they could have the things they do,
it makes no difference to them.
I'm tired and worn out from playing referee
between them, just want some peace.
They are my children and I love them dearly
but they need to understand that I have a life
of my own as well.

I know this all too well, my mother raised the tree of us, alone. I am eternally grateful to her for all of her sacrifices and I think often of how she had to save bread bags to put our lunches in and scrape out a life for us. They will understand more of what you have done as they mature. Just keep loving them with all of your heart, that is the most important thing you can give them. May God Bless You and Your Family!

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
