DEATH COULD COME SO EASY

DEATH COULD COME SO EASY

 Death could come so easy
There’s no one here to see me
All I have to do
Is put the music on real low
Fix me a drink
To wash down the pills
It might take a short while
But soon I will be asleep
And as I drift farther away
I am sure I will find a place to stay
It might be Heaven
It might be Hell
There is no one here
That I can tell
I see my mother
I see my dad
And all my family and friends
They talk to me
To ask me why
I am lying so still
Why did I take so many pills
I can not touch them
To give them a hug
And tell them I miss them
I have no one here
To talk me out of my fears
You can talk to us
And God above
You will always have all our love
Our thoughts remain
Inside of you
The memories we made
Will never leave you
Then all of a sudden
I see myself
And I ask me why
Why do you think you want to die
There’s no one here
I tell myself
All my friends are here with you
I sit at home all alone
And wait for someone to come by
It’s been days since I’ve had
A knock upon my door
Seems like no one cares
And with all of you
I’d rather be
You all shared a laugh
And sometimes a tear
I had nothing to fear
Then God spoke up
He was listening in
You can not stay here
I have a plan for you
You have the gift of words
That must be heard
You’ll make new friends
It might take a while
But you must greet
Everyone with a smile
You must listen into
What their hearts are telling you
And when they can not
Understand why this way they feel
Write your words inside you heart
It will help them come to grips
With life’s unexpected trips
Thank you God
For the words you share
And for being my one true friend
I’ll go on back and do Your will
I’ll spread Your word
That lies deep inside me
I want to follow in Your step
My day I know will come
When you bring up with all of you
And I know my heart must be true
It was nice to see
My family and friends
But I know that I must go
And do His will for whatever time
That He may see fit
To pass along His wonderful gift.

Creative, artistic. The only thing, and I'm no expert, but you bounce between the present and the past and into the future too. I don't know but I think you've used past-tense where there should be present tense and vice-versa. I liked it though. thanks for sharing, Zep

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
