Demon Within

Demon Within

I feel the demon inside of me...
waiting for its' release...
desparately wanting to break free...
to show the world the power of the beast...
the pounding of its' heart...
pumping blood so evil and black...
I have heard from the start...
making me wish He had thrown me back...
into the primordial soup of creation...
to boil away the impurities...
stir me in with souls free of corruption...
to rid me of this most wicked disease...
bloody visions of sinful lust...
saturating my weakening mind...
overwhelming feelings of must...
wondering where I'll leave the body for you to find...
pretty little girls looking so nice...
flashing their bright eyes and innocent smiles...
like candy made from sugar and spice...
the hunger grows as I drive for miles...
I don my mask made from steel...
wearing battle-worn armor and holding my blade...
fighting this demon to put aside how I feel...
and to remember the sins God forbade...
I fought the demon and locked it away...
I stopped its' malicious killing sin...
who knows how long I can keep it at bay...
this raging, evil demon within... "

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
