    Differences

I often lay beside you and fantasize about your lips
the world is encompassed behind them.
Your words are my world. the only reason for being and existing.

    Nigger! someone shouts
    Kike! says another
but all we know each other by is baby and lover.

I often sit here with your sleeping head in my lap.
How did I grow to love you so.
I'll whisper my love to you in your sleeping ear.

"how could two people so different
    feel love so strong.
like two halves of the whole"

I lay beside you. you are my missing piece.
The wholeness you bring to me captures me.
makes me heady and drunk. intoxication of a fixation

Your little snore shakes me from my day dream of love
and I roll over into you feeling your arms catch me like a hook
    im the hungry prey.

my brown skin beside your white
    my paganism to your judaism
opposites that are attracting so much it frightens me.

the similarities of are worlds are none
    but our differences are love

    I love you Chaim

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
