Forever in Costume
Behind the mask the alter ego hides.
Full of lies and faux happiness,
Revealing ones true being
Only when no one else is watching.
The question is simple,
The answer perplexing.
Live in a land of pretending and conformity?
Or lead your own life but live in ostracism?
Society is the judge,
Your friends, the jury.
Instilled by fear of judgement,
We cower forever in costume.
Full of lies and faux happiness,
Revealing ones true being
Only when no one else is watching.
The question is simple,
The answer perplexing.
Live in a land of pretending and conformity?
Or lead your own life but live in ostracism?
Society is the judge,
Your friends, the jury.
Instilled by fear of judgement,
We cower forever in costume.
