    The Great Escape
    The mind fades to painful memories
    Of losses and regrets.
    An overpowering wave of hatred
    And love both, tears the soul to shreds.

    Slipping into darkness,
    The body becomes numb.
    Seeking an escape to an alter life
    Willpower succumbs.

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
