    Things change, people change and nothing is "forever"

    After "all that time," 
    weeks, months, likely more,
    you sit forlorn, 
    crying alone
    your "true love" out the door
    Promises were made
    "for forever" was the deal 
    in the end however, 
    the promises weren't lies
    "forever" is never real
    The rocky road of relationships
    is another road that's paved 
    with well-intentioned promises
    and broken hearts
    that couldn't be saved
    Cheer up! Life is not over!
    Sadness is not for eternity.
    But lessons learned
    must be applied;
    if not you've defined insanity*
    *Insanity: Doing the same thing,
    over and over, and expecting
    different results each time.

    Well we,re not promised tomorrow or forever. This is great. We all go into relationships hoping for forever; but,life is constant change. This was well written. Great rhyme and meter and very enjoyable.

    So true. Of course I would like to imagine that somewhere people still believe in stepping up to the plate and working hard to make a relationship work. We live in such a disposable world. Do you think back in the day when divorse was taboo, people worked to make it work or did they live in misery? Very nice write, encouraging too. Audrey
