    GOD NEVER FAILS

The residue of past disappointments envelops my soul like a shroud.
Who can I trust to keep his word, but You,
Oh Lord.  Man's frailities and weaknesses
Allow him to excuse himself and absolve
    Himself of any responsibilities.

We fail each other in many ways--I know that I can trust in You, Oh Lord, until the end of time.  Your Word is steadfast and
True, which comforts me in times of stress.
You shall fulfill my needs as no man can.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
