SAD BUT TRUE

SAD BUT TRUE

How did you get into my bubble?
It's not easy to say.
It's just for fun, as you put it.
No need to ever quit, but I'll be the one to pay.

My problem is I care too much
To play the game of fun...
Then when you find out the truth,
You'll be on the run.

I didn't put a gate around
My soft and tender heart.
If I would have done that
Right from the start...
I wouldn't have the pain of loss,
My mind should have been the boss.

I'll need to have you extricated,
From that spot within;
Plucked like a sliver deep inside the skin.

They'll be a scar that's sure to mar
My heart from here on in...
I won't mourn the loss I feel,
But just be happy when it did begin.

I loved you, you know, in my own private way.
Even though I knew you could never stay.
You can't control the way a heart will go,
Why I let you in, I will never know!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
