    THE BLOSSOM

    Amidst the rocky crevices
    Appeared a special bloom.
    Every color of the rainbow
    Enhanced the flower's hue.
    The fragrance was like jasmine,
    And other spices, too.
I asked the Lord how could
This be in the center of
    The cold, hard rock?
He said He watered it each day
With the tears I shed while
    In such a painful place.
The colors of the rainbow are
    The center of His love,
And there I stay, day by day,
Wrapped in His arms of love.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
