How About Now?

Poem Commentary

This poem is about a friend of mine. Her father was like this.

How About Now?

I loved you no matter what you did.
I took a beating every now and then.
You never did apologize...
But it never changed the view of you in my eyes.
You pushed me down time and time again...
You took my love in vain!
Why do I put myself through this pain?
Give you the power over and over again?
I gave you a second chance, a third, too many to count.
I thought maybe someday I would lose the doubt...
You lost your chance....
Now I will advance.
You made me stronger.
I have the power.
Now here I am laying down a flower.
At your grave I stand...
This was so unplanned.
Do you feel like a man now daddy?

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
