I DO NEED YOU
Losing you has made me realize
What it is to be sensible and wise
I had you for myself
But I treated you like a trophy on a shelf
I played around like I was a fool
I hurt you and I broke all the rules
I was never around when you needed me
I stayed away leaving you in misery
You always wanted to show me how you feel
But I ignored you, telling you to get real
I didn’t know I was doing you wrong
I felt I was macho and was being the perfect man
At times I saw you sitting by yourself
Acting as if you were a lonely trophy on a shelf
Instead of reassuring you that I was there
I stayed away as if I didn’t care
How I wish that you were here again
So that I could reassure you and ease your pain
My suffering is such that it’s hard to bear
I didn’t know it could be so poignant when you care
Now I know what you were going through
And I am hoping you will tell me what to do
I do need you
What it is to be sensible and wise
