I'm Better Off Without You.

    I'm Better Off Without You.

It's taken me so long to see
That there's something I could be without you.
And there's a lot more I could do because I'm better off without you.
I wish you knew of all the pain you caused.
The cuts you made upon my heart.
As if I was shot with a spiked dart.
I wish I could give you back half of what you give me,
    Then you would finally see,
That I'm better off without you.
I never knew until I met you,
How much it could hurt to feel lower then dirt.
I have all my tears saved,
So I can count the ways.
Now as my feelings for you fade,
I'm better off without you each and every day.
I hope one day the pain you'll realize,
And now in no way can I compromise.
    No more can I fight,
For something so far out of sight.
There's better things I can do,
Because I'm better off without you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
