    Images of Love

    Lost,
    Wandering;
    I’ve sought her redeeming grace,
    As an image
    To guide my heart

    I first caught sight of her,
    watching me through a doe’s deep brown eyes
    Since then, I have heard her whispering in the wind
    And through a dove’s mourning songs;
    Images of love speaking to my heart.

    I’ve felt her warmth shining down on me through the golden rays of the sun.
    And known her presence underneath the shade of a tree.
    I have seen her reflections mirrored in loved ones around me
    And heard her lyrics through their songs;
    Images of love speaking to my heart.

    Now, she beckons to me through my dreams,
    As a muse guiding me,
    An image of love trapped inside my heart.

    Awakening at dawn,
    I know it is her voice which animates this poem
    Flowing through my soul.
    It is her sighs and passionate cries that move me to sing this song;
    This love locked inside my heart

    Seeking at-one-ment
    She sings,
    ‘Take this key,
    Unlock the door,
    And allow me to be a melody
    Flowing from heart to heart’

    A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
