    The Me Inside of Me

Who is this me inside of me?
    The one creating this story?
    This I
Peering out of these two eyes.
    Angel?
    Shadow?
    Or alter-ego?
This whim captured with the flourish of the pen..
    Is it masculine?
    Or feminine?
An image lost inside its reflection?
    A fabrication of the imagination?
    An observer’s observation?
    Or a moments participation?
    A breath,
    breathing thought into being?
    A song,
    singing itself all day long?
    A Thought,
    thinking itself the thinker?
    A dream,
    dreaming into the dreamer?
    A question questioning?
    This me inside of me…..

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
