    Kissing You

In my youth you kissed me,

but I did not kiss back.

    Too timid.

    Too afraid to show emotion.

The love that you had given me,

    warmed me to the heart.

I had tried to return your endearment,

    but my heart and mind,

are like the alpha and omega.

Now -- years later -- I find myself with you again.

Again for the last moment of my life,

    because you are dead,

and I am -- to date -- not.

    Unable to cry for you,

I walk towards your eternal bed.

    So still you lay,

    in your immortal slumber.

    But where are you?

    Where are you now?

For out of love and regret --

or knowing that you can still witness everything --

I give you the final gift of love that I could bestow.

    Slowly bending,

    I gently kiss you,

    Good-Bye.
